Learning to kiteboard has never
been so easy! With progressive advancements in equipment
safety and kite technology, combined with the latest instructional
techniques, the learning curve is cut in half. We have
courses for every rider from entry level to advanced.
Urban Surf is the NWís premier source for training,
equipment, advice, repair, and travel.
We speak from experience, bringing some of the first inflatable
kites to our NW Waterways over 10 years ago. From their,
the sky was the limit...literally!
Now through our IKO&
PASA
certified training Program we seek to educate and share
the excitement of this powerful new sport!
We will introduce you to the growing community of local
rippers the right way, with professionally certified instructors,
and full jet boat support in the water.

 Ground
School Course - $80 - 2 Hours
|
|
(2 Week Kite Rental Included*)
This course is designed to find out if kiteboarding is
for you and get you started the right way. We introduce
you to kite set up, the concepts of wind theory and give
you the basic flying skills on land. This is a great way
to prepare to get on the water, as flying a land based
training kite dramatically improves kite skills with the
larger more powerful equipment.
With Courses almost every Saturday morning in season,
many students also opt to meet us in the afternoon for
more practice at our water location, Jetty Island (Everett
WA) were you will see how it all works and get to watch
local riders first hand! Groups of 4+ can schedule privately and receive a group rate. |

Its time to hit the water and get familiar with the four/
five line kites, control bars and associated safety protocols.
We cover the fundamental skills of launching, landing,
re-launching, self-rescue, and let you experience the
power of these large kites through on water body runs.
This comprehensive course is an essential step towards
becoming an independent kiteboarder. Students will leave
with a solid and safe foundation for starting the sport
right.

Getting you up and riding is
the focus of this course. Essential board skills are covered
and the use of jet-boat assisted upwind lifts will give
you the long down wind runs entry level riders need to
dial in their skills. This course can also be specially
tailored to suit your needs or refresh previous skills
such as water re-launching, self-rescue or equipment issues.

Take your riding to the next

Safety 101 Clinics $20-2hrs |
|
As more and more riders enter the sport, safety continues to be a main theme. In an effort to cover safety topics in more depth, Urban Surf has dedicated a course to the theory and practice of kiteboarding safety. This course welcomes riders of all levels, and will be where the only stupid question is the one left unasked.
Topics Include:
-Depower Systems (Passive & Direct both 4+5 Line Kites)
-Basics of Rigging and Tuning equipment for optimal
performance
-Priority Rules/ Right Of Way (ROW)
-Beach Analysis Skills
-Weather Awareness (Wind Turbulences, Shadows, Gusts,
Updrafts, Downdrafts)
-Check Training Calendar for set dates held at our shop
location.
-Or Get a Group of 5 or more together to schedule at your
convenience & location.

Upwind Lifts |
|
This is a great way to enhance
your training while you are learning to handle the power
of the large kites or just ride and stay upwind. With
the use of our jet-boat assisted upwind shuttles you can
make the most out of Jetty Islands steady side-onshore
wind conditions.
1 lift for $25
5 lifts for $100
Includes 1-2 mile upwind tow into Port Gardner Bay and
Rescue if in distress. |
