Urban Surf has been a long standing supporter of the Pacific NW water sports community it serves for over 30 years and brought Kiteboarding to Seattle in the late 90’s. As Kiteboarding continues to grow we stand dedicated to support our growing community not just through our training program but also our professional, reliable services and equipment to keep you on the water. Jeffro - School Owner
Jeffro has been instructing kiteboading for over 20 years and riding for 19, after previously instructing windsurfing, snowboarding, and rock climbing. Applying his Degree in Physical Education and Masters in Outdoor Education to create the only internationally approved Kiteboarder training program in the NW. After learning to kiteboard in Seattle, he has kited and instructed in many windy locations around the world including Maui, Oahu, Mexico, Australia, Thailand, Vietnam, & Brazil, Pueto Rico, Canada. He trains & manages our skilled instructional team and is also an Examiner for the IKO traveling to train instructors around the world.
Iko Certified Instructors
All Urban Surf Instructors are hold IKO Professional certifications and are trained in house for our NW Location. You can check the status and history on anyone who claims to be a professional instructor through the International Registry of Kiteboarding Instructors. Each one is a progressed rider and has completed a rigorous 10 day training course that breaks down the learning components, safety considerations, and communication skills required to provide effective kiteboarding training. Instructors must hold First Aid+ CPR & Power Boat Certifications. Instructors must also log a number of supervised hours with Head Instructor before going 1-on-1 with students.
Internationally Certified & insured kiteboarder training program
Urban Surf is the only Internationally certified & insured Kiteboarding Center in the state of Washington. Our insurance and school record can be verified online with the International Approving body for Kiteboarding Training, The IKO. For this reason our operation has been approved by the Port of Everett and authorized to conduct instruction on Jetty Island. Be sure your school and instructor are insured, If not they could jeopardize your safety as well as the future of kiteboarding access to local beaches.
Equipment & Transport
All equipment and island transport included with lessons. This means you get the right gear at the right time. Wetsuit rentals available by advanced request.
jetski assisted lessons available
Full Jet ski Assisted Instruction and rescue. All courses are taught 1-on-1 at your own pace of skill completion, Full Jetski support training when you are ready for this support.
